Ladies Golf Tournament 2009 - Thursday, August 27, 2009
On August 27, 2009, over 100 women golfers participated in the inaugural Investors Group Fore Women’s Health Ladies Golf Tournament at the beautiful Rossmere Golf and Country Club. Golfers enjoyed themselves immensely with an instructor-lead warm-up, putting practice and fun contests such as the longest drive of a marshmallow and closest to the “W”. The day was further enlivened by a different Women’s Health Trivia Question at each hole. All contributed to the overwhelming success of the event which raised over $11,000! Following a Texas scramble-format game, golfers were entertained at dinner by Chrissy Troy from FM HOT 103 as the Master of Ceremonies. Exciting prizes valued at over $8000 were awarded to many golfers and everyone went home with:
- increased knowledge about women’s health issues,
- an awareness of the need for more women’s health research,
- memories of new and continued friendships, and a fabulous purse !
Funds raised from this event support the activities of The Women’s Health Research Foundation of Canada. This year the Foundation provided the University of Manitoba with $10,000 which will be matched dollar for dollar to provide scholarships to graduate students conducting the best research about women’s health.
