2nd Annual Ladies Golf Tournament, Thursday, August 19, 2010
Rossmere Golf and Country Club

YES, IT WAS A PERFECT DAY!   On August 19, 2010 The Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg FORE Women’s Health Golf Tournamnt began in golden sunlight with a rousing Zumba warm-up on the driving range at Rossmere Golf and Country Club. 

At noon, after enjoying a BBQ lunch sponsored in part by Manitoba Pork Council, twenty-two teams paraded to the shot-gun start.  Players of all abilities enjoyed the beautiful course, the challenging women’s health Trivia Questions at each hole, the camaraderie with friends old and new, and the fun games and treats.

Activities included:  Putting contest, Chipping into the Princess Castle, and (back by popular demand) the Longest Drive with a Marshmallow – and of course, a healthy supply of chocolate from Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg along the way!  The horn sounded at 5:00 PM to call all players from the course, and after professional make-up and hair repair, golfers proceeded to the banquet room. The room was elegantly dressed in black and white décor, recognizing Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg, the Wonder Woman event Title Sponsor. 

At the dinner tables, each golfer was greeted with a pair of sparkling crystal earrings and a gorgeous fashion handbag full of sponsor-supplied goodies.  Comments from Jim Rondeau the Honourable Minister of Healthy Living, Youth and Seniors preceded a tasty dinner prepared by the excellent Rossmere staff.  Over $10,000.00 in prizes were distributed to the tournament attendees, including a team award for the highest Health Trivia score, and for sponsored hole games. With the delightful talent of emcee, HOT 103 FM personality Chrissy Troy, an additional 40 prizes were awarded by random draw, creating much excitement and energy in the banquet room.

At the end of the perfect day, everyone went home with good feelings of fitness, fun, friendships -- and a little more wisdom about women’s health!  This Second Annual FORE Women’s Health Golf Tournament raised over $10,000.00, bringing the total earned by the WHRFC Golf Committee to more than $21,000.00 in support of research activities.
